The aim of the undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering is to prepare students for research and professional practice in an era of rapidly advancing interdisciplinary technology. It maintains a balance between classroom lectures, laboratory and design experience with emphasis on problem-formulation and solving skills that are essential to any engineering discipline. The programme also strives to develop in each student, self-reliance, creativity, leadership, professional ethics, and the capacity for continuing professional and intellectual growth. State-of-the-art facilities are provided for the students in the form of well equipped laboratories and a departmental library. Excellent computational facility and all relevant software supported by adequate number of high performance systems are available in the department which help a student to gain specialized knowledge in fields such as computer aided engineering, computational mechanics, etc.
To empower the students to emerge as competent technocrats in the vast field of mechanical engineering with a high degree of professionalism.
- To impart technical training to the students of the department by adopting the multidimensional approach that encompasses academic excellence, zeal for research and industrial exposure.
- To develop a sense of social responsibility among the students while making them technically competent.
